How the rating works elo, like chess

Every pour starts at 1200. When you pick a winner, the loser hands over points: beating a higher-rated pour pays more than beating a lower-rated one. New pours move fast for their first ten duels, then settle. Judging is blind: you never see who made a pour, or its rating, until you have voted. Pours are what get ranked; see the rankings. A barista's number on their profile is just the rolling average of their last five rated pours, so it follows current form rather than a lifetime of history.
